THE FINAL KIT DROP OF 2024...

The Bikes Change Lives crew has been cooking up something special, and it’s almost here—our final kit drop of 2024!

Welcome back, friends!

The Bikes Change Lives crew has been cooking up something special, and it’s almost here—our final kit drop of 2024! Don’t worry, we’re not joining the 'fashion over function' club, but we are dropping some serious style with that signature BCL flair and a design built for cooler days. Curious? We’ve got all the details below!

Be open about your struggles: "Asking for help when you're down or when you're feeling wobbly or when you're depressed is actually the most powerful thing you can do"

After catching a podcast episode about cycling, we realized that a lot of folks who are new to road riding might not know the unwritten 'rules of the road'—especially when it comes to drafting in a group! Here are some quick, easy tips to get you drafting like a pro.

1. Find the Magic Zone

Drafting is all about getting in that "magic zone" about a wheel’s length behind the rider in front. Close enough to catch their draft and let them break the wind for you (literally), but not so close that you’re bumping tires. Stick here, and you’ll feel like you’ve found your turbo boost!

2. Eyes on the Rider, Not the Rubber

Resist the urge to stare at the back wheel like it’s a mesmerizing fidget spinner. Instead, watch the rider’s body. When they’re shifting, standing, or coasting, you’ll get the hint to adjust, and you won’t be caught off-guard by any sudden slowdowns.

3. Ride Like Butter – Smooth and Easy

Drafting isn’t about jerky, sudden moves. Think smooth, like butter. When you brake or shift, do it gradually so everyone behind you can flow right along. This way, the whole group keeps its chill without any surprise speed bursts.

4. Speak the Language of the Pack

If there’s a pothole, gravel, or a cat crossing the road, let the squad know! Throw a hand signal or call out “slowing!” so everyone’s in the loop. Drafting in a group works best when we all speak the same language and share the love.

5. Draft Around the Block

Everyone’s got their own style of riding, so mixing it up and drafting behind different people makes you a pro at reading the group. Practicing with new riders is like building your drafting toolkit—you’ll be ready for anything the road throws at you!
